Deputy Enrique Estay (UDI)
promotion, construction of bike paths and mass use of bicycles
Valparaíso .- Enrique Estay Congressman introduced a bill that encourages the use of motorized vehicles and requires the completion of feasibility studies for communities vial enable bikeways, pedestrian walkways and areas for sports.
The congressman said the idea is to promote a new culture vial for cities in the country, promoting cycling as a preferred means of transport, to stop the deterioration of the quality of life and health of Chileans living.
Similarly, Estay said, the trend in our country of people organized in pursuit of promoting bicycle use has become commoditized and increasingly, thousands of Chileans have a bicycle as their preferred mode of transportation, however, the road infrastructure for this type of environment in Chile is weak, it has favored the construction of large modern urban roads, roads not considered suitable for cycling.
Estay Rep. Chile noted that the construction of bicycle paths in the communes, no more than an anecdotal element of cities, they lack the length minimum, security, accessibility and usability required for the use and promotion of bicycle.
"The bicycle and sporting activity is increasing considerably, which is why we need that there must be a state policy to plan the construction of sustainable and healthy cities, aimed at promoting non-motorized transport vehicles, making it compatible with a system efficient public transport and pollution, where respect for public spaces, it promotes physical activity and establishing state incentives for people to access non-motorized transportation, "said Rep. Enrique Estay. Finally
Congressman noted that this project also helps communities create activity areas for sport for all its inhabitants, also considering individuals who possess some degree of disability.
